Proximity Chat - Eternal MC
Proximity voice chat is live on ETERNAL MC
You can now talk to the people you can actually see. Voices get louder as you walk toward someone and fade out as you wander off — no Discord call running in the background, no shouting across the whole server.
You'll hear someone at full volume out to about 12 blocks, and they fade to silence by 48. It's stereo, so you can tell which side of you a voice is coming from. Headphones are genuinely worth it.
It works on Windows, iPhone, iPad, Android, Mac and Linux. There's no app for consoles, but if you play on Xbox, PlayStation or Switch you can run the phone app alongside your console and get the full experience.
Getting set up
1. Join ETERNAL MC in Minecraft first.
Hop on the server once, the way you normally would. This is what registers you for voice chat — if you skip it, the app won't recognise your account.
2. Install the voice app.
- [Windows 10 / 11](https://www.bedrockvoicechat.com/downloads/latest/windows.exe) — direct download
- [Android](https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.alaydriem.bvc.client) — Google Play
- [iPhone / iPad](https://testflight.apple.com/join/JSG7bVqC) — TestFlight
- [macOS](https://testflight.apple.com/join/JSG7bVqC) — TestFlight, same build as iOS
- [Linux](https://github.com/Alaydriem/bedrock-voice-chat/releases) — .deb or AppImage
It runs alongside Minecraft, not inside it.
3. Enter the server address.
When the app asks which server to connect to, give it:
4. Sign in with Xbox.
You'll be sent to a Microsoft sign-in page and then back to the app. Put your headphones on and play.
Use the same account you play Minecraft on. Signing in with a different Microsoft account is the number one reason people get stuck — the server matches you by gamertag.
While you're playing
Type `/bvc:panel` in Minecraft chat to mute yourself, deafen, turn someone else's volume up or down, or start a group — all without alt-tabbing out.
If something goes wrong
It says my player isn't found. You haven't joined ETERNAL MC yet, or you signed in with a different Microsoft account than the one you play on. Join the server once, then sign in again.
I can hear people but nobody hears me. The app needs microphone permission. Check your system sound settings, and make sure the right input device is selected in the app.
Everyone sounds echoey. Someone is on speakers instead of headphones, and their mic is picking up everyone else's voices.

Voice chat runs on its own server, separate from the Minecraft server itself. It's built on [Bedrock Voice Chat](https://github.com/Alaydriem/bedrock-voice-chat) by Alaydriem.
Eternal MC - Intro
I called it “Eternal MC” because I plan to host this world for as long as possible while keeping up with large updates to the game. I get the Minecraft itch at least once a year and I never come back to the same world, so this is my way of stopping that habit. It is a family and friends server but anyone can join and people will only get banned for severe griefing or severe obscenities. There will be children on the server sometimes…
I will not use any addons that require players to install something in order to play.
Proximity Chat:
There is a community project called Bedrock Voice Chat which I will be adding to the server soon. It requires a local client to work however, you do not need it to access this server and it will simply not function for players who have not installed the BVC local client.
